If this is your first time at doing an animated signature, I suggest that you read the entire Intro page before following this tutorial.

This tutorial has 18 steps to folow, and is divided into 4 pages. You can find Steps #11 to #15 on this page. Link to Steps #1 to #5. Link to Steps #6 to #10. Link to Steps #16 to #18.

  1. Duplicate Layer. When you finish the first leg of your first letter, you will need to duplicate the current layer. DO NOT edit this layer after working on new layers.
    1. To duplicate this layer, right click on Layer 1. This popup dialog box seen on the right will open.
    2. Select "Duplicate Layer" from the list.
    3. Click Ok in the next dialog box.

  1. Working with new layer.
    1. If your new layer is not already selected as the current layer, click on it. (see figure to the right)
Layer 1 Copy
  1. Complete Letter "V".
    1. As shown in the example, complete the last leg of the letter "V", by painting the remaining area of the "V"
    2. Don't forget to save the psd file as you work to insure loss of data in case of power failure and such.
    3. Repeat the steps show in #11 and #12 above.
    4. You should now be on "Layer 1 copy 2" (see figure to the right).
Paint

13.d New Layer
  1. Continue painting.
    1. Continue painting each section of eash letter by repeating steps #10, #11, and #12 until you finish painting in all the text while also making sure that you are working on the correct layer.
Complete Painting
  1. Completed Frames.
    1. Your signature frames should look something like the figure on the right. Depending on the number of letters in your signature, the frame count will vary.
